I’ll be the first to admit that as much as I like to think I am “down with the kids” sometimes that simply just isn’t the case. Never was this more evident than when heard the term London Fog used to describe a drink.
Now I have got to grips with Macchiatos, double-shot espressos (it’s NOT expresso), mocha soya lattes, flat whites etc., but a London Fog is something entirely different; and it turns out not a meteorological term at all (in this instance)!
A London Fog is in actual fact an Earl Grey Latte! – tada! Now apparently this is very nice with a shot of vanilla. However, it was all thanks to Greg James on BBC Radio One (am still ‘down with the kids’ after all) that I learned about LF. Until then I had never even heard of an LF let alone drunk one!
It remains to be seen whether my local Starbucks or Costa will know what the heck I’m talking about when I place my order; so as I have an Areoccino, and rather than making a complete tit of myself, I’ had a bash at a homemade one first.
