Dublin in a day…

I had this idea that a trip to Dublin is entirely possible in a day. So yesterday was the day to try!

7459DBCE-8D32-496B-AF9C-0C7617666F73With my best friend – who had travelled over from South Africa for our daughter’s wedding – we arrived bright and early at Gatwick airport!

Our flight was close to a hour and we were in the Irish Republic aka The Emerald Isle.

On arrival we got a freedom pass that enabled us to hop on and hop off the DublinBus 568E19AA-5DF0-403F-95F0-3E80515F9421tour and made our way to The Guinness Storehouse.

Having drunk our pint in The Sky Bar at the end of the tour we the hopped back on the bus; taking in Phoenix Park, Jameson Distillery and hopping off again along the Liffe in order to take in the sights and smells of the Temple Bar area. In particular having a couple of Gunpowder G n T’s in The Temple Bar; don’t mind if we do!

Following a bite to eat, we wandered up O’Connell Street, stopping at Pennys (AKA Primark) for a browse. It was then back on the bus to the airport.

It was a pretty full on day. We have a combined step count close to a marathon in distance!  The weather was FABULOUS – wall-to-wall sunshine unusual for the Irish Republic in my experience. But Dublin in a day is entirely doable and definitely worth it. Flights with carriers like RyanAir are cheap as chips. You only need to take a backpack for the day too!

Until next time…
